great animals we can exploit for the ad campaign

should we be using examples of different animals to capture people's attention? What about a bur oak? Nah, Chicago Wilderness has the bur oak. Our group was talking about using white-tailed deer, kind of a mundane animal but I think city people feel really connected to white-tailed deer. I think we can exploit the fuzzy feeling city people get around deer for the Conservancy's benefit. other animals: fish, birds, ordinary animals transforming into rare animals, so that when people see them they make the connection from a mundane species to a rare one. Like a rat turning into a capybara, or a coyote turning into a wolf. A dandelion to a real lion, that sort of thing.

  1. I love the idea of transforming the dandelion to a lion! I love the play on words and also the visual transformation could be very creative.
In order for it to work within the ad campaign I think there would have to be emotional cohesion between the rare and the ordinary species. It would have to effectively take the emotional attachment that people seem to have to large fuzzy animals and displace it on the more ordinary organism, in this case the dandelion.
